Scrasamax' whole Cosmic Age setting is simply delightful, with all the goodies from cyberpunk and urban fantasy mixed with recognizable but still slightly different items from old saturday morning shows and pc-games.
It is hellishly difficult to rate one of the "Cosmic Age" items over the others, they are all good. Go to Comment
Good stuff, lot of possebilities for creative folks. This alchemy is good for low-magic campaigns, but might also contain a nasty surprise for high-magic campaigns.
"My spellresistance is so high, I am unvulnarable!"
It just feels unfinished. Still, a very good try to make the Baroness of Cobra a more well-rounded character with a believable background. One wonders whether a future baroness is now slumming in an Occupy camp somewhere.... Go to Comment
I am afraid this might be a reasonable prediction for the coming century. Certainly the big Oil companies and the big banks move & own more money than many nations. Personally, the whole corporations-are-people-too idea is nuts, and I expect a growing backlash against it, the more corporations exploit this. Until a corporations ends up on the electric chair, they can not have the same rights as people to me. Meanwhile, the primary employers of private security firms like the infamous Blackwater or EO have been national gorvenments so-far, but some oil companies have already been known to have employed what are effectively private armies. Public opinion in the Western world seems to be the biggest factor so far to formalize this arrangement.
Keep up the good work, this world is getting more and more interesting! Go to Comment
Congrats, you have turned a simple utilitarian tool into an iconic and insightfull piece of campaign background. I imagine these shields flashing, just before the troopers charge with their shock-batons "Biomedial Pain-Away, to Resist everything!". The displays on said shields shoulld rather be pre-loaded, without wire-less access though, or I imagine hackers will try to get to hack into the shields and make them display anti-corporate agitprop... While brain implants are maybe not realisitc, if you accept the possibility, then this article is an excellent extension of Scrasamax' syfy-universe, and will fit in most cyberpunk-games too. Lots of possibilities for adventure!
Now, that ethics-chip sounds like a concept open for a lot of abuse: Big Brother is IN your brain! Or link it with the optical implants, and reward the host when he kills someone.... Go to Comment
Villain and hero: his methods and attitude are bad, but rebuilding an USA with its old idealistic streak and lessening Corporate influences are good. His biggest enemy might be the Red Sun, this conglomerate who effectively controls the Pacific Rim Go to Comment
An orchard any pyromancer would want to own or copy, though even with cooperation of the Fire Lord, getting seeds and saplings is going to be an adventure! I love these magical plants, but what about the critters? Normal orchards, if not heavily doused with insecicides, are full of insects and insectivores. But any worm that can eat a Fire Peach is propaply only edible to special birds! Are you going to make more groves, linked to the other planes? Go to Comment
With the exeption of the parapsychic stuff, this might be one of the most realistic but also chilling depictions of how clones would function in future societies. As player characters quite often have a military background, this might mean it would be likely that said PC is a clone. Meanwhile, roleplayers would like to play one for the challenge, min/maxers for the boni, and munchkins will want to play a Rambo/Chuck Norris hyperclone..... Go to Comment
Insidious Melody Trap:
A strange otherworldly piece of music starts, played by the tortured spirit of a bard who was captured by the dungeonbuilders. It starts at a low volume, but it risis slowly, while the irritation gets worse and worse.... Go to Comment
A Mimic in the rather unconventional form of a weapon, can be used as a weapon and grows more powerful over time. If introduced to the party early it could make an unexpected betrayal. Skittering around like a terrifying insect.
