A very simple story and idea, yet brilliant! I like the background and the curse. But I especially love the fact that it never delivers large amounts of damage. Awesome idea, Cirruswind! A seemingly low-level magical item that, when used correctly, could be invaluable! I like the idea of using the marker stone as a "homing device" that would allow the pc's to find the target wherever he/she is. Go to Comment
I'm having a hard time picturing the armor and how it actually would function, especially with the damage reduction from piercing and slashing wounds. However, I think the idea is very creative and original, and I could see a druid wearing Derrin's Vest and nurturing the moss. Probably even having conversations with it... Go to Comment
Tarot Cards are used by Magic folks to predict the future (cartomancy). Since the present becomes the future through the interplay of elementally alligned forces, the tumble of cards can give clues to the way the pattern of elements will be in the future.
This means a wizard will have a deck of cards with them. Since cards were used to train wizards in legerdemain, Since they have cards with them, they frequently know how to use them. Guild magic users often have a knack for fancy shuffles, palming cards, and a variety of card tricks and games.
