Very cool. I like the level of description for the buildings and such. I like the flow of history. Nothing was plopped down here (Why are there gardens? People just shrug and say it has always been so). There is story here. I like that. Go to Comment
The place, it is typical. It almost earned a yawn.
It is all the little details that you added. The Master Performer who the area is named after, all the street performers looking for patronage, the events, and the parade. That is what makes it special. Go to Comment

This has novel written all over it. Since it wasn't referenced, I am assuming it is his idea. Maybe someday someone will write such a novel. It would be part espionage part tragedy part fantasy. Go to Comment
Eternal life is nothing without eternal youth. So even if you just get a little longevity, people will go to great lengths to look and feel young. Witness the flow of plastic surgery and viagra. This is where the real money will be made by anyone who has anagathics. Keeping your customers alive practically forever means they will keep spending money to keep looking good. This means clothes, this means makeup, this means modifications to themselves, after all.. if you have looked the same way for a hundred or two years, it might be time for a change.
Of course, inheritance is now an issue as well. Go to Comment
In the Wheel of Time Saga, the world is being invaded by people who left their continent several hundred years previously. There has of course been a great deal of cultural drift between the two, as the people had developed fairly normally (psuedo feudal) and the others who had a strong military leader and tradition, became militiant and highly organized. These people were invading themselves so to speak. Both sides throught they had the correct civilization from the closest to the core society. What they found is that neither side was "right". You people hit all the highlights of a world without grain. One of the reasons for the Autoduel game is a grain blight and resulting social chaos. (Solyent Green also comes to mind). Go to Comment
I don't have a world *yet*, so I can make an expanded comment. The impact of the printed word really can not be underestimated. The moment it comes into being, the world begins to change. Go to Comment
You are on the wrong side of the pass/ mountain. You see the oncoming army. You need to get back during the cold in the tough terrain at top speed while being harassed by army scouts trying to stop you. Go to Comment
