It is not an infectious disease, but it is a plague upon the world.
For it spawns villains. And not your garden variety villains, but epic villains, master villains of the most dangerous kind Evil Geniuses.
Ecopoiesis is the creation of a stable, enduring ecosystem, and is the last stage of a terraforming process. It’s achieved through a series of successive ecological changes which depends on available resources and the initial environmental conditions.
It was quite the odd sight, clusters of people dressed like jesters, or prancing devil, or one group were in badly done Lyran dance costumes, all dancing, running about, making noise or music (well, the music was mostly noise), all on the day after the New Year’s Birth. It is quite sobering. I should know. I was there staring out at it from my inn window. I soon got dressed, moved myself slowly downstairs, and made "sophisticated and urbane sounding inquires" (which were neither thanks to the amount of mead the previous night) of the Inn Keeper. He who told me all about this mad tradition of his city’s while I had bread and beer for breakfast. Baldius and the Trader’s Way Blue Press 1524

The modern definition of festival has four parts: 1. a day or time of religious or other celebration, marked by feasting, ceremonies, or other observances: the festival of Christmas; a Roman festival. 2. a periodic commemoration, anniversary, or celebration: an annual strawberry festival. 3. a period or program of festive activities, cultural events, or entertainment: a music festival. 4. gaiety; revelry; merrymaking. In the later eras of the European Rennaissance (early modern) there was an additional meaning; 5. The marking of important events in the life of a princely dynasty, such as marriage, the birth or christening of an heir, a coronation or a funeral, or the traveling to a new country/ state/ city.

Preserver Thought is “The School of Thought” on Kerren. It motivated the Colonist to colonize. It is what led them to their unique technolgical and social mix. These Preservers live up to their own ideals.
“If you are going to live in the Warren, you need to live by The Rules,” The Edge said.
“I can follow the Ward Rules as good as anyone,” the Green Ryder said.
He waves dismissively. “Those are not the rules I speak of. I speak of the ones that make you more than just another fool with a dragon mount. I speak of the ones that make you a True Ryder.”
“Who are you to tell me what is right to do?”, Sir Aldros said.
“I am a follower of The Old Code”, the older knight said.
Chivalry was disciplined by a code of conduct that was clearly understood although it was never clearly formulated. ~ Léon Gautier ~

Sagas are the “oral tradition” of Kerren. Sure they are written down, but they tell stories of The Days of the Ships, of Onterio, of Earlier Days. In addition to history, they are used to teach moral lessons and Preserver Ideals to the younger generations. Though the Sagas, one learns to of Kerren and how to be Kerrenese.
The Celestrial Dance, The Weave of the Spirit, The Dance of Time, The Song of Reality, and The Flow of the Seasons, are aspects of the Eternal Pattern. The tradition of Battle Sashes is only a century or two old. It started in Celedor by the River, but it has been adopted in every part of the WestLands. Now the complex code of knots and colors allows Elites to know "who is who" as well as their affiliations.
Every Society believes in certain spiritual beliefs. Those beliefs color everything they do. The Capathan people are a warrior culture, semi-nomadic over a wide range of plains, steppes, and hill country. Their belief systems make them quite different from what you would expect.
Galron has found lasting fame for simply being the first one who mentioned the stones in the record. A small pantheon of deities worshiped by Orcs (or other barbarous races) through their shamans. This write up shows the Orc view of these things, rather than the relative view.
Most of the people who “spell components” really don’t know anything about magic. Components are used as tools, symbols to help focus the concentration and associations for the spell caster. Rarely is anything “consumed” in the casting, unless it is a sacrifice or burned.
Sages and naturalists frown at the common name given to these strange creatures by the small folk, but sometimes the silliest nicknames for creatures, places and people persevere in the minds of many. “Purifiers”, “Pond Jellies”, “Breath-Stealers”, “Lung-Ticklers” and “River Butterflies” are much less commonly heard appellations for these life forms. Wet Faeries are basically (and simply) a species of fist-sized, fresh-water jellyfish. Several traits steer them toward the peculiar category however. Firstly, Wet Faeries are nearly invisible in the water, much like their marine cousins but even more so. One can swim in a river swarming with these critters and not even notice their presence. Secondly, they possess the unique ability to clean and purify whatever body of water they inhabit. They do this via some sort of biological filtration process, sucking in all toxins present in the water, and releasing it back in its purest form. Needless to say, they are both a blessing and a curse to whichever folk dwell beside the rivers and lakes Wet Faeries inhabit. On one hand, no purer water can be found anywhere than a Wet Faerie lake or pond, and yet, in “pure” water “life” tends in fact to die out, lacking the needed nutrients to prosper. Thirdly, their “sting” is (unfortunately) virulently poisonous to all mammalians. Wet Faeries are loathe to sting anyone or anything, using their barbed fronds as a last line of defense, but if stung, most swimmers will suffer respiratory arrest, and die within minutes, usually drowning before they can make it back to shore.
Alchemists, druids, and less savory characters have studied these creatures over the years, and have predictably found all the ways Wet Faeries could be exploited. Morbidly humorous, some bards find it, that the Poisoners and Assassins Guilds as well as the Healer’s Union, all prize these creatures. The assassins use the extracted venom in obvious fashion, while the priests and healers use the still-living jelly-fish to sterilize other poison potions and to cure those already poisoned on death’s door.
It is known that a certain Earl Von Trumble keeps his vast castle moat stocked with Wet Faeries, the waters so clear that every bone of every one of his past enemies can be clearly seen on the bottom, twenty two feet below.
