Just like with the sharks they so revere,a wrong or inappropriate action can provoke a lethal reaction from a Shura. As the other mer-races are so fond of saying among themselves, the only thing more unpredictable than a shark is a Shura. This is a prefered weapon, simple yet deadly.
A well crafted but otherwise ordinary steak knife. It makes the cutting of meat sooooooo easy.
“ew. What is that smell? Where did it come from?”
“Where did that wyvern come from!”
"OH MY GOD! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT THING!"
They are the result of the magical merging between a goblin and a bull shark. Zabans are a classic example of a wizard’s tinkering with life gone horribly wrong; a warning to those who would meddle with life.
Ranchowen are aquatic beasts that are ridden by high ranking Eshal warriors. A lot more comfortable to ride than Great Serpents and infinitely more docile, they are highly prized live stock that are bred and reared in special hatcheries by skilled Eshal animal trainers and herders.
The Brotherhood’s goal was to preserve traditional Eshal practices and customs, with emphasis being placed on the belief that every member of the tribe mattered and that to ignore his rights and contributions, would result in the Clan collapsing.
The Great Serpents are the primary form of riding transportation for the Eshal. These massive, venomous creatures are one of the primary reasons that the Eshal were so successful in running roughshod over the cities of the Mer-folk.
Large lizards about 5 feet long, nothing about them seems to stand out. As drab and colorless as the parched brown stone of the desert, these things come across as your average (admitedly huge) reptile residents. But what most wouldn’t know is that these scaly things are virtually unkillable, thanks to a unique gift that they possess.
Large and powerful, they are the aquatic equivalent of elephants in a battle situation-very dangerous, but no army can afford not to have large numbers of them.
Acehrax raptors, with fifty foot wingspans and powerful talons, these dangerous creatures, are the bane of the Snake Riders.
Welcome,o distinguished traders to the Great Market of Ushart! Here you will want for nothing when it comes to the exotic and wonderous!
Just mind that you have a strong stomach…
Suffused with a love for probing every inch of the darkest and most unexplored depths of the ocean, this adventurous octopus like being possesses a dashing courage most odd for one of his race.
Not very surprising perhaps, when you consider the fact that this young explorer is insane.
Bestowed by the pagan Godess Inar, upon the king of Silamarh in the his nation’s most dire time of need,it allowed to destroy nigh single-handed,the great horde of the infamous barbarian war-chief,Hordan.
The classic sword of the incorrigible munchkin, you think? Not quite.
Human in a previous existence, one thing about this former Captain’s life has been left unchanged by its brush with the Black Tide.
For a creation of the Black Tide of Acqua, death never truly befalls it. As long as the most vital part of it survives, the foul thing will continue to exist. In a certain sense..
Blessed by three of the Spirits of Nature,it ensures that the wielder will slay his foe in any duel. Provided he always fulfills the requirements laid down by the first wielder.
Destined am I to hunt down and slay the half breed called Rachat, for only his demise can bring me what I yearn for…
A traditional weapon among certain primitive tribes such as the Powi, this strange paste derived from the Ahal nut has been used to suprise and encumber many an opponent.
Lying forgotten on the ocean floor by the children of Acqua, reposes the very monument that commemorates the passing of the islands from the hands of the Old Ones into those of their ancestors who sailed out of the mists long ago to claim them for their descendents.
But in a twist of extreme irony, others have come to venerate this creation abandoned by the race of man that built it. They are the Old Ones, the very same race whose defeat this statue is supposed to represent.
THE GNOMES OF UDNALOR: Part II
Having left the hush of the upper halls, and crossed the depths of the Braeth (an underground river, which is not all that deep because bear in mind we're talking about gnomes here), you would find yourself in Wattling Street, the main road through Udnalor. It's actually a long, well-worn passageway which opens out eventually into the City Centre. The gnome-buildings branch off Wattling Street as small burrows or caverns with boulder-blocked doorways for privacy. You can find armourers and smiths (though their armour tends to be on the small side for humans to buy) and many other types of trader.
There are many streets, ginnels and cooies which run off Wattling Street, the most famous probably being Smell Street, the domain of the infamous gnomish alchemists, the eponymous smell being very distinctive: the stench of cooking fungus, the aroma of subterranean spices, the pungent reek of rotting carcasses (used in some of the more notorious experiments). An encounter with an alchemist can really be spiced up (excuse the pun) if you have a well-stocked herb cupboard, and actually make up the potions, elixirs and draughts as they are ordered by characters.
