An ominous emblem begins appearing in tapestries, paintings, engravings, streets, etc. across the town or city in which the players are staying.
And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. - Barbossa to Elizabeth, Pirates of the Caribbean.
While enjoying a meal in the local tavern, the party strikes up a conversation with another customer, who is witty and urbane.
Late is the hour, dark the night. Clouds blanket out the moon and stars. A lone figure is seen slipping out of the forest and onto the main road leading into the village, in search of it's doctor.
A sorcerer with evil intentions or just a murderer waiting for another fool?
At a crossroads, the characters come across a trio of thick poles set into the ground, just outside the overlapping roads.
An obviously wealthy and beautiful woman contracts the PC’s to solve a missing persons case. The missing person is her younger sibling, a teenage boy.
Machine, AI, being, God? The best guarded secret of the country of Egypt, Former Earth. One which secured them their galactic future and survival, at the same time, damning them in the eyes of every nation of the Republic for an eternity.
The Bannington Lapur LRTI AA Particle Rifle was developed by Deimos Inc to replace the Republic’s older R3X7 Particle Rifle. The weapon is currently only being used by Elite Clone Units and Special Forces and is still undergoing trials. Several prototypes are known to exist their whereabouts unknown except for the original which is on display at the Republic Central Fleet’s Museum of Armaments.
Lounging around in the Cantina, Kolburn kept a watchful, yet unassuming eye on those around him as he finished the last morsels of what passed for a meal in this joint. Brushing off the crumbs, he glanced round, careful not to make eye contact with any of the other patrons who might later remember him as he made his way unobserved to the entrance and out into the cold of the port. He would come back and pay off his mounting tab, when he next came across a few credits, or found another odd job. After all, he wasn’t completely without his honour, unlike some people.
"Getting their attention is easy, you just need to hold it. But that doesn't concern you. Just make sure it's quick, then move on. You'll know when I wink."

“Many hungry people in these parts and the roads are dangerous. So you have a choice, you can give us most of your provisions to feed the starving, or all your silver to pass safely. The choice is yours, wanderer.”

This great square lies a few feet below the level of the surrounding streets. A place of where emotions run high; a place of both awe, and despair.
Atop a nearby rise the infuriated priestess stood, taking in the unfolding scene in the
valley below. How dare these metallic, roaring, foreigners loot their temples. She offered
up a silent, vengeful prayer to her gods, may their wrath befall these intruders!
They were made as a promise of everlasting peace and unity. One has been opened to prevent a war. A second sits on display in a Dwarven hold. The last has vanished, and to this day, has never been found.
Why do they choose to re-appear now? Perhaps it is just a crazed local? What will happen to the child?
An interesting little idea I came up with. Also my first attempt at a 100 Word Challenge.
A tiny marble cherry with an amber heart inlaid. One of the Lolliful Avenger's most devastatingly effective weapons.
Come, join in our discussion. We're composing a list to categorize the different lunatics that spill their inane natter here. You fit in where did you say?
While setting up camp for the night, the PC's are aproached by another group of adventurers who seem nice enough. The road is somewhat dangerous and the other group suggests camping together. The two bands split watches, one adventurer from each group watching at once. The night goes by without incident, the next day the PC's travel with the other group as they are going the same way.
The group consists of Hordel the ranger, who is skilled with the bow. Hordel is a quiet man who speaks little but appears quite skilled. Dremar is a barbarian who is a little excentric, he seems to be an excasive drinker and thiunk that battle is the solution to everything. He appears to be a stout and powerful fighter with his greataxe. Ferrin is the leader of the group, a rouge by trade. He is daft and witty, speaking with the PCs often and asking many questions. He fights with finesse with his rapier. Preminitat as a cleric but he will not say which god he worships. He uses his spells to empower and heal his party and fights with a club. He sticks close to Ferrin. Ferrin is a great talker and tells much of himself and his party, but asks even more about the history and capabilities of the PCs. He tells of some adventures his party has had, and they seem like an interesting group of mercenaries. Hordel is quite and has little interest in speaking with the PCs, he ignores most questions. He spends a lot of time with Dremar and sometimes Ferrin. Dremar seems to not care about any questions ansked to him, nor does he seem to know the answers. He seems battle hardened and is a simple man. Preminitat rarely starts conversations but will speak with the PCs. However, some of his accounts of the party's history seem to condradict those of Ferrin.
The Party spends another night and day with Ferrin's group. One of four things can happen on the third night.
1: While eating dinner around the fire, Ferrin gets into an argument with one of the PCs when he/she mentions the discepincies between Ferrin's stories and Preminitat's.
2: Hordel gets mad after repeated questioning about his life from the PCs.
3. Preminitat gets mad after repeated questioning from the PCs about what god he worships.
4: One of the PCs rejects the offer of a drink from Dremar and he takes it as an insult.
All of these scenarios result in a battle between the parties. If Ferrin's party is defeated and still lives he swears vengance. His party may then cross paths with the adventurers again.
